KT Digital Healthcare Solution Enters African Stage
05/29/2017 | By Netmanias (tech@netmanias.com)

KT employees are explaining KT Digital Healthcare Solution to visitors to its exhibition booth at TAS 2017 which was hosted in Rwandan capital Kigali.

KT (CEO Hwang Chang-Gyu) has revealed that it has exhibited a Korean model Digital Healthcare Solution at TAS 2017 (Transform Africa Summit 2017) held from May 10th to the 12th at Rwandan capital Kigali.

TAS is an international IT conference held every other year post the Smart Africa Manifesto. Since 2013, the Rwandan government and ITU (International Telecommunications Union) have jointly hosted TAS, yielding steady participation from African leaders and major IT companies. This year, at least 300 political personnel from leading African countries participated in the conference with smart cities as the subject.

KT prepared a booth with local subsidiary company AOS (Africa Olleh Service Ltd.). Together they showcased KT Digital Healthcare Solution, which connects each village’s health center and community hospital with national hospitals. Reaching the local hospitals with 4 classes of healthcare platform connected mobile diagnostic equipment is the foundation of the solution.

KT Digital Health Solution uncovers blind spots in medical treatment in remote areas through early detection and speedy treatment of major infectious diseases such as HIV and malaria, infant and maternal mortality rate reduction through maternal and child health environment improvement, chronically ill patient care, etc. Persons from each country’s health departments visited the booth and showed high interest.

KT Future Business Development Head Director Ko Yoon-Jun said, “Through participation in TAS 2017, we were able to notify extensively in Africa the excellence of the pilot project agreed to with Ugandan healthcare licensee CCS (Critical Care Solutions Ltd.) known as KT Digital Healthcare Solution. Henceforth, KT plans to expand KT healthcare platform base mobile diagnostic equipment business. KT plans to improve Africa’s conundrum (i.e. malaria, HIV, etc.) through ICT technology by using big data analysis of accumulated data.”

In July 2016, KT signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Rwandan Kigali National University Hospital for the pushing forward of a digital healthcare pilot project and have provided a stepping stone for the advancement of Africa. In Bangladesh’s Giga Island which opened in April of this year, KT will propel Giga Island digital healthcare advanced business with Yonsei Medical Center in the first half of the year. KT will actively push forward island resident-centered global digital healthcare business which establishes medical treatment data based telemedicine infrastructure.
