HFR Inc, announces a successful completion of the O-RAN Alliance openness and conformance test of virtualized vRAN solution, first company in Korea
12/29/2022
  • Verifying interoperability on the global stage with ORAN-based Private 5G(P5G) network solutions (vCU/DU, O-RU)
  • Providing affordable P5G solutions to public institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises(SME) with reasonable cost

HFR presented private 5G(P5G) network solutions developed with O-RAN standard at Plugfest Fall 2022 hosted by O-RAN Alliance and completed O-RAN openness and conformance tests, and announced results to the O-RAN Alliance.

The Plugfest is a global event hosted by the O-RAN Alliance which tests the openness, interoperability, and conformance of the O-RAN solutions to expand the O-RAN ecosystem and sharing results.

HFR participated in this Plugfest and performed P5G network solutions verification including mobility test in O-RAN test labs and real field environments, using a base-station equipment compliant with O-RAN standard and commercial terminals, along with SK Telecom, ETRI, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Intel, and Keysight Technologies.

Solutions showcased by the HFR to the PlugFest is a base station (vCU/DU) software supporting P5G network vRAN and O-RU.

HFR's base station solution was implemented as a software without using SoC (System on Chip), breaking away from hardware dependency, and virtualized using pure domestic technology transferred from the Electronics and Telecommunication Research Institute (ETRI) in Korea.

In addition, it has the advantage of being able to utilize O-RU (Open-Radio Unit) of various suppliers by applying O-RAN technology.

The O-RAN is a key technology for next-generation network and U.S. government will invest $1.5 billion to develop software, hardware and microprocessing technologies that will strengthen the supply chain competitiveness of the 5G O-RAN network.

Since HFR has developed the end-to-end P5G network solutions with pure domestic technology, there is no need to pay royalties overseas, and HFR will supply P5G network solutions verified on the global stage to public institutions and SME companies at reasonable costs.
