The National Information Society Agency (NIA) and the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) announced on October 1 the launch of the “Strengthening Korea’s AI Network Competitiveness” initiative at Seoul National University (SNU). The initiative will begin pilot demonstrations of Physical AI services using AI-RAN-based Private 5G networks, which are emerging as a key infrastructure for the 6G era.

A consortium comprising Newgens, Seoul National University, Yonsei University, KAIST, and HFR will establish pilot demonstration sites across the campuses of the three universities.

The project aims to demonstrate how AI-RAN-based Private 5G networks, optimized for real-world Physical AI service environments, can enhance the convenience of on-campus activities for students, researchers, faculty, staff, and visitors.
