LG U+ to lower the service rate of its gigabit Internet service (see World IT Show 2014: LG U+'s Gigabit Internet (LAN and FTTH) Networks - Architecture and Equipments and Now giga Internet service available from all the Korean big 3 operators), 'U+ Optical Giga'
LG U+ announced on February 1 that it is lowering the service rate of 'U+ Optical Giga' Internet service, capable of 1 Gbps speeds - up to 10 times faster than the 100 Mbps ultra-high-speed Internet.
Accordingly, the new rates (with 3-year commitment) of U+ Optical Giga (delivering 1 Gbps) and Optical Giga Slim (delivering 500 Mbps) will be W33,000 and W28,000 per month, respectively - W2,000 down from the previous rates.
With this reduction, the company will be able to offer the lowest giga Internet service in Korea.
Mr. Seong-jun Ahn at Converged Home Business of the company said "the decision to reduce the gigabit Internet service rates was made to ensure our customers can enjoy our differentiated converged home services like 'U+tv G 4K UHD’, ‘Homeboy', ‘Home CCTV MomCa', etc. by minimizing our customers' burden of Internet access costs".
