MWC 2016이 이번주 22일부터 25일까지 스페인 바르셀로나에서 열렸다. 5G와 IoT는 작년에 이어 올해도 hot issue였고, 5G와 IoT contents로 각광받는 VR (Virtual Reality) 역시 hot issue로 떠올랐다. 5G는 작년 MWC에서는 수 Gbps급의 radio prototype으로 PoC 수준이었다면, 올해는 radio trial system을 포함하여 네트워크, 서비스에 이르기까지 다양하게 선보이면서 훨씬 현실적으로 다가왔다. 5G radio trial system은 훨씬 작은 크기가 되었고, 이제 랩을 벗어나 outdoor로 나와 MWC 현장에서 시연되었다.
