Sprint and Samsung take Three-Channel Carrier Aggregation into the Field with Live Demonstration in Chicago

Today at Soldier Field in Chicago, Sprint (NYSE:S) and Samsung Electronics America, Inc. provided a look at what's next for the Sprint LTE Plus Network with the first live U.S. demonstration of three-channel carrier aggregation on Sprint's network. The demonstration reached peak download speeds of more than 230 Mbps running on Samsung's latest network infrastructure technology and hottest new devices including the Samsung Galaxy Note7, Galaxy S7, and Galaxy S7 edge.

SK Telecom's M&A with CJ HelloVision: Deal or no deal? No deal!

An attempted M&A deal between SK Telecom and CJ HelloVision fell apart. The deal has been reviewed for over seven months - first by the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) and then finally by the MSIP, the final decision maker, which disapproved the combination of businesses. The FTC announced that in order to eliminate the risk of restricting competition, it decided to disapprove the proposed M&A deals.

KT is launching ‘GiGA WiFi 2.0’ on the 22nd, supporting up to 1.73 Gbps - twice faster than the current GiGA WiFi serving public areas. The new ‘GiGA WiFi 2.0’ is based on the next generation standards, IEEE 802.11ac Wave2 (Phase 2), and is known to support up to 1.73 Gbps for now, but up to 3.4 Gbps when upgraded.
