KT held a briefing session with reporters at Olleh Square in Gwanghwamun Gate on the 27th and introduced single unit-type PC ‘Olleh TV all in one’ that has TV, PC, and IPTV functions. Olleh TV all in one has 128GB SSD, Intel Inside Quad-Core CPU, Windows 8.1, and 27-inch fullHD IPS panels with wide-viewing angle that allows one to see same quality from horizontal and vertical planes at 178°. KT and LG Electronics released world’s first ‘all in one TV’ that combines PC and IPTV. It is a new concept of TV that allows one to watch IPTV and immediately change to PC to search the internet.

It is expected that KT will use all in one TV for a gateway to IoT service for household appliances.

KT held a briefing session with reporters at Olleh Square in Gwanghwamun Gate on the 27th and introduced ‘Olleh TV all in one’ that was co-developed with LG Electronics. KT was in charge of Conditional Assess System (CAS64) for IPTV, and LG Electronics was in charge of designing, assembling, and producing this product.

Microsoft was in charge of contents security solution based on Windows 8.1 Operation System (OS), and Intel was in charge of developing CPU that is optimized for media.

Executive Director Lee Sang Yoon of LG Electronics’ B2B Group said that it is a world’s first product that was developed based on Korea’s best manufacturing technology and communication service and it will be a gateway to IoT.

Because ‘Olleh TV all in one’ has Intel Quad-Core CPU, 128GB Solid State Drive 103 (SSD), it can process data faster than previous PC product line. It also has 27-inch fullHD resolution wide-viewing angle (In-plane Switching 327), which allows one to always watch contents at same quality from 178° horizontally and vertically.

IPTV and PC platforms can be simply changed with a remote by clicking ‘Olleh TV’ icon that is installed on wallpaper. KT is planning to provide 220 real-time channels and 160,000 VoDs through Olleh TV all in one.

“Olleh TV all in one is an IPTV single unit-type PC that has 3 elements of special characteristics: no noise, low power, and low heat. We are planning to improve its functions once more by upgrading its OS to MS Windows 10 by end of this year.” said Director Lee Pil Jae of KT Media Business Headquarters.

KT is releasing Olleh TV all in one at every KT retail stores and customer centers starting from the 31st, and olleh.com is going to start early reservation starting from the 28th. Although KT decided its price at $834 (989,000 KRW (excluding internet fees)), a member who joined OllehGiGA internet and Olleh TV rate payment system can purchase it at $362 (429,000 KRW), which is a 60% discount, by a single payment.

KT is expecting that singles and recently married couple, who feel burdened about the price of TVs, will be its major customers and that there will be many people who will buy it as a second TV.

“We are currently examining a plan that will link Olleh TV all in one with new IoT service that we will introduce next month. Although it will be hard to predict exact sales volume, we predict that we will be able to sell about 10,000 TVs by end of this year.” said Director Lee.

LG Uplus also announced that it will release IPTV single unit-type PC that was co-developed with LG Electronics next month. IPTV single unit-type PC will provide 163 real-time channels and 120,000 VoDs including free video contents. LG Uplus is planning to strengthen viewers’ levels of convenience by implementing a function that allows a viewer to watch 5 channels at once.
